Self Esteem Booster
If you're a teacher or coach, you may have a child or two in your class or on your team that you have a hard time reaching; you know the potential to be a great student or player is there but they just won't put forth the effort because they don't have the self esteem.
One way to help bolster self esteem is to use
medals, trophies and other forms of recognition. A child that may not come in a winner in a race will certainly shine with pride if they win a medal for "Trying Hardest" or "Best Effort" or even "Most Improved Player". All of these are accomplishments worth being proud of.
A good idea to further make the giving of an award or medal even more special is to have a special get together where you call the children that are receiving awards up and let them get their award in front of everyone. Whether you choose a trophy they can proudly display on their shelf or a medal to hang around their necks at the ceremony and later displayed proudly in their homes, it's a great way to give a kid a self esteem boost.
Everyone can't be number one but good efforts that are made by kids should be recognized in positive ways.
